A whole-hearted YES to this ❤️ This has been one of the most powerful teachings of living with auto-immune disease - to learn to listen to my body's wisdom, to learn how to truly rest (not the things we think are rest but are actually further depleting us) and to learn to regulate my poor over-taxed nervous system. I'm writing on a similar theme this week too as it happens. Amen sister 😊
Oh isn’t it just!! Bless you, it’s exactly that - trying to regulate, learning the intricacies of our own early warning systems, and knowing what real ‘rest’ is for each of us. I wrote a follow up about what intentional rest meant for me this week - I’d love to know your thoughts on it. I look forward to reading your piece this week. Lovely to connect 💕
Michelle I've just read (and subscribed) to your beautiful piece. It is SO hard!! 'rest spent in shame is not rest' - that is so on point. I totally relate to that and as someone also with chronic illness, I love your notion of 'pre-loading' rest but also our instinct to constantly be doing something useful. So many synchronicities with our viewpoints. I'm going to send your post onto someone I know that needs it. Much love x
Thankyou for sharing this Emma. I’m currently in the ‘can’t write, can’t talk, can’t walk’ mode…I will circle back when Iv filled my energy store up 🙏🏼
I hope you have managed to find some energy, perhaps some sunshine, some rest. I know that 'can't write, can't talk, can't walk' so well. We understand how this is and create a circle of kindness around it. Look forward to getting to know each other better when we're able 🫶
I adore reading what you have to say, but please rest, as I understand only too well what can happen to your body when you don’t listen to the warning signs.
I look forward to reading more from you when you’re ready.
Oh Susan you’re so very kind. That’s made me feel quite emotional (in a good way)! I am resting, thank you, and there will indeed be plenty more to come over time. I’m so grateful for your support, and take care of yourself 💕🙏

Oh great, I look forward to checking out your follow up piece 😊 And yes nice to connect here ❤️
I needed to read this today, even as I stay committed to Doing Less For No Good Reason (https://open.substack.com/pub/armchairrebel/p/doing-less-for-no-good-reason)

I’m honoured to have provided words of comfort to you and your someone. And that you took the time to say so here 😊
Exactly this and so well put 👏 Thank you 💛
