Candles, a cushion, 2 notebooks and a plant - lovely ! What a gorgeous day of slow lived life with no priorities and expectations💛 a gorgeous day of connection. For me that’s the most important (nourishing) thing, being around others I can completely be myself with. Often accompanied by food. Or at least a cuppa. In a shop I’d love the aforementioned with maybe a crystal instead of the cushion 😍 (though I’ve only ever bought 2 crystals, on my most recent splurge in a spiritual shop in Bridlington)

Oh crystals can be so satisfying, what a lovely thing to buy. And yes, a cuppa. A cuppa and time to read my book would be such a treat - one for next time. Really that should be something we can do quite a lot, it's funny how there never quite seems to be time! Today I shall be hugging my cushion and getting some rest. Lots of love to you xx

I love this Emma, I know exactly what you mean. Some days you want to say, you know what it is about me! I think I'd buy a book and some luxury face cream, that always make me feel good and I mainly go to the library for books these days. Your day of self-care made me smile, I always love a meander to the shops when you don't have to buy something and you can spend longer just browsing.

Books are generally my go-to as well. I'm actually surprised I didn't buy a book!! Ooh a luxury face cream - what a treat, and a great act of self care as well. The time, the ritual, all of it. Very special x

Me again 😁 I also love doing our weekly food shop which involves a trip to two local teeny tiny towns where we still have a local market garden, a greengrocer who also sells fish and game and a couple of deli/wholefood shops. We have lovely conversations, catching up with each other and like you say, knowing we all care about each other. 💜

Oh just so so lovely! I have had this same set of feelings a few times and have ended up getting take out (over priced) coffee...

I’ve never had or bought an expensive candle... not even once but I have seen them and wondered if one day I might?

I set up a little yoga shop here Post pandemic and bought 80 hand poured candles in from a local biz. I saved some for myself and it always feels like such a luxury lighting one... ✨✨

aah it does feel like such a luxury lighting a candle. Maybe that's a thing to treat yourself to one day 💕. I must have spent nearly half an hour in there smelling all the candles, closing my eyes, being transported, until I found the one that wanted to be brought home. I obviously bought it purely for the candle's sake so that it had a lovely home to shine in 🤣🕯💕

Beautiful post! I’m particularly inspired to Chuck it in the Fuck it basket today. Thank you for that. I also love the kindness in the gifts and connection you gave yourself. I hope you find so much ongoing delight in them.

Thanks so much! I am literally curled up with my cushion right now, candle lit. Sometimes you've just gotta do it. Def chuck it in the fuck it bucket today - you won't regret it. Let me know what you do!! 🥰

It feels like you've seen into my mind from days gone past. I used to take myself out for the day every couple of months to do just this, let myself go where I needed and find ways to nourish my soul. It nearly always involved a quite lunch with a book and some art. Plus going into every secondhand bookshop and charity shop I could find looking for hidden treasure. Thank you for reminding me that this is something that nourishes me, I'm going to put a date in the diary to take myself out!

This post put a smile on my face. Your purchases were all thoughtful and you knew they would give you joy, so they are absolutely justified. I’m not too far from Dorking and think I know that lovely interiors and home wear shop.

I’m off for a walk in the rain with my audiobook now after a few hours of work.

It's funny, I had that whole conversation with myself - can I justify this?? And then I let myself dismiss those thoughts because it was kinda bigger than that. I love that you know that shop - it's so lovely. I'm also just about to walk in the rain, was just wondering what to listen to - am in need of inspiration!! xx

What a lovely warm post. If you know what I mean. Life can be so challenging at times it is difficult to have time to savour the little things in life. Teenage girls often know exactly which buttons to press, but why? Because they can, but then you realise they have grown into beautiful caring women. Xx

Aah that's so lovely. My teenagers absolutely amaze me with their wonder and finding their way in the world. Balanced as they are precariously at the moment between childhood and adulthood. I can totally see the beautiful, caring women in them (but God knows they can press buttons too!!!). Thank you, that's really made me smile x

It truly runs through my veins! My darling papa bought me my first bottle for my 16th birthday and I’ve worn it ever since! And I’ve (sadly!) kept virtually every empty bottle I’ve used, as I can’t part with them. Yep, I know, I hoard. 😬 xx

Ah yes Emma! It’s candles and books for me too - and Chanel No 5!! Xx❤️

I love soft warm woven blankets. I found one in TKMaxx once made of alpaca wool. And I love lighting the Woodburner, a few candles and reading a good book. It doesn't happen often as my husband usually wants to watch TV. Art, textiles, colour. I love the smell of damp soil and trees. I love the feeling of the kitty totally relaxed in my lap. 🐱

aaw so lovely. I love a blanket - they do gorgeous ones in Primark too - my skin is sensitive to wool sadly so I have to be a bit more synthetic but there's nothing quite like the feel of softness to cuddle up in. I think we could make a whole self-care collection from these comments ❤️

Oooo that crane note book is verrrry nice!

isn't it! Just so pleasing. Also on the other one with the waves - the art is raised, so it's super tactile. I keep stroking it 🤣
