I’ll be doing the oat (no dairy for my tum but I also have oat milk in!) and honey 🍯 (I like the medicinal properties of honey, plus my husband’s uncle and cousin have hives so we’ve plenty of honey!). ☕️
I’d love my black tea strong. Yorkshire teabags if in the uk and currently trying Barry’s and Lyon’s to decide what team I’m on... Either way, strong with a splash of milk (usually oat or soy though I can handle a big of cows milk, or black). No sugar, unless I’ve had a shock or after a cry, of which then I’ll have one teaspoon of white sugar (don’t come near my tea with a sweetener, yuck!). If I’m going for another blend the tea place we go to has a devine earl grey called Lord of the Greys. Or a green on an afternoon, the flavour I have at home at the moment is an apple and caramel which gives a Christmas feel. I love a chai but I’ve not found a blend I like where I live so will be trying your recipe!
That's so funny - I NEVER have sugar in tea, I kinda spit it out if I get a sugary tea by accident, but in times of shock - absolutely yes!! It is a totally different drink, but I feel that I need that sugar when my body is experiencing extremes. Also I put sugar in it for my girls if they've had something difficult happen or a big cry! Do let me know how you get on with the chai xx
Same here! My husband takes sugar/sweetener and if the two teas get mixed up, I spit it out. I haven’t made it yet but I will surely let you know when I do, I have the receipt saved ☕️
Loved this piece as I’m continually being ribbed about how fussy I am about my tea!
The Indian Chai Tea sounds amazing and I’m going to give it a go. Think I’ll also opt for oat milk as I like that in a chai latte.
I was in Ethiopia earlier this year and they do a lovely spiced tea - they spice the water that is used to make the tea.
A few years ago I worked with an Irish construction crew (in Scotland). They went on and on so much about missing their Barrys tea that I found some for them, miraculously choosing the right colour box. They were so put out that I refused a cup - it was the colour of tar and looked utterly undrinkable. A colour chart would have been helpful!
Haha brilliant!! Barrys tea... Thanks so much Lynn, a woman after my own heart. I'll look out for Ethiopian spiced tea - I haven't come across that before xx
I love this Emma, it's such a magical thing to do something that you are passionate about, but don't have to make a living out of it (yet!). Tea is such an institution and there is nothing like that first cup of the day. I am absolutely in love with India Chai Tea, so might just give this a go.
Thanks Louise -you're so right, it's all about the passion and enjoyment of it. I hope I never need to lean on it to make a living as perhaps some of the magic would get lost? Although I will write about it - but that doesn't feel like working!! Oooh do try the Chai recipe - it's absolutely gorgeous xx
I am an absolute tea lover. Have a whole draw full of my uppers and downers, something for every occasion, though mostly herbal as caffeine was one of the casualties that fell by the wayside in my recovery from AI disease. Love your insights into the tea world and the sensory richness of these descriptions. Wondering if you saw Candace Reardon's series on teas on her Substack page Dandelion Seeds? Worth a look 😊
ooh I haven't seen Candace - will look her up now, thanks. I also have to be careful with caffeine as it affects my balance - I cut it out completely for years. I drink decaf most days, but now that I've discovered these incredible teas I will treat myself to a special cup in the mornings!! x
Oooh I need to try making this chai tea! Raw milk and coconut sugar are what I’d give it a go with first time round I think
Do it!! Coconut sugar sounds delightful! I haven't heard of that before - will add it to my shop! xx
Love it! It’d all my visitors get in their tea! Makes for tasty (clean) cakes too😍
ooh...

Honey is magical, and oat milk works so well with it 😍
I am a 'show it the teabag' person! My family and friends laugh at me - they say it's basically hot water and milk 😂
🤣🤣
Adjusting the tea 🤣 I love that! I’ve adjusted a few teas my in-laws have made me, there’s no discrete way to adjust a tea I’ve found 😆
I find tipping it in a flower pot works a treat 🤣
I’ll be on flower pot look out and choosing the chair closest 😂
🤣🤣
😆😆🙈🙈☕️ 🪴

Yum!! I really fancy chai now! ✨✨
Make it for the family at bedtime! You can use decaf tea, and it's such a gorgeous bedtime, Christmassy drink x
