I love music as a connection to loved ones.

I remember my Spanish husband’s mum singing in the kitchen ‘Que sera sera’ (the full Spanish version) a song my grandma would also sing in the kitchen (the English version).

It felt like a message from beyond, and the message from the song 🎵 ‘whatever will be will be, the future is not ours to see’ 🎵 only became poignant after her passing.

I particularly enjoy the picture of the boys, you can see them singing it! It’s looking back on photos like that where we realise this moment is so special. 💗

Aah that's so lovely - and yes we get so much meaning from the words once they are gone. It's quite beautiful x

Don’t we, it truly is.

I was meaning to ask, would you have heard of Nuala Moore? As you enjoy your cold water swimming 🏊

Am going to try not to go down the rabbit hole until I've finished at least 2 tasks I've set for myself this morning... then I will treat myself by looking her up 🤣🤣

Love this Emma (and will now be singing Electric Dreams for the rest of the day)

For me, I think music is a time portal, transporting me to different eras of my life...

Crowded House's 'Don't Dream It's Over' is my teenage bedroom, recording songs off the top 40

Sister Sledge's 'We are Family' is University days in the Cardiff Students Union 70s night, dancing with my girlfriends ('I've got all my sisters with me')

The Cranberries always take me to post-university days in Brighton

Radiohead and Massive Attack transport me to my early 20s living in London

Beth Orton takes me to my 30s and the era where I first met my partner

.....My mini autobiography in music! 😊

Great post Emma!

I think for me, it’s Shining Light, the Annie Lennox version.

“You arrive and the night is alive” just captures such feelings for me, with regards to Lisa xx

“Roman candles that burn in the night

Yeah, you are a shining light

You lit a torch in the infinite

Yeah, you are a shining light

Yeah, you light up my life

You've always been a thorn in their side

But to me you're a shining light

You arrive and the night is alive

Yeah, you are a shining light

Yeah, you light up my life“
