Gosh that must have been such a shock, I’m so curious to know who it was and what lead him to your house.
I have been to a place in Australia with a similar concept to the one you described called Lentil as Anything. I met so many people as a customer there but I also volunteered too, I love the concept.
Oh that’s beautiful - love the name - just brilliant. Yes I wonder what led him to us indeed. What he was looking for. He then just went away...it was very strange. In some ways more odd than scary on reflection! 💕
Very strange, makes you wonder indeed. Could he have lived in the house before? Or a neighbouring house? I’ve so many questions! Very odd, and very much like a scene from a film. 💚
No we’d been in the house 10 years and the previous owners 30! Possibly just a standard break in attempt although he did keep saying ‘I need to stay here’. He was off his nut and very determined to get in so he might have just thought he was somewhere else. I will never know 🤪
So weird he said I need to stay here! I’ve heard of people drunk getting the wrong house or even road if they look the same. But you wouldn’t say that if you thought it was home. Hmm very interesting, you could create many narratives for him! 🤣
Thank you for sharing these special stories. In particular thank you for sharing you later kind perspective about the man who tried to break in. The world needs reminders that even humans who do Bad Things are humans, with their own complicated or simple back stories. He went away and you didn’t shoot him - a win-win. (I guess you might have wanted to if you’d had a gun handy?)
Exactly - we never know what drives someone to such actions, and what fear they hold of their own. I can’t say I can imagine ever firing a gun!! I feel very grateful not to live in a gun friendly society, even despite this. It wouldn’t even cross my mind but I’m also hugely grateful it didn’t escalate to a point where I might have needed more drastic action 💕
I Love this. Thank you for these gentle reminders of how all things lead to another, with only the Universe knowing how or why!!! I wish I could teleport immediately to experience Team Amrutha’s mission (a little biased as a vegan 😉) but the World needs MORE!!
Emma, I was captivated by this story. I could totally imagine you going into protective mode, but how scary that must have been for you and your daughter. I also like that you later turned your way of thinking about the situation around to consider what was leading the man to that behaviour.
We are definitely going to try Amrutha - it sounds wonderful and very near to us! xx
Ooh yes you must!! Amrutha is delightful 💕💕. It’s not far from Earlsfield station. It was scary but also very strange. My daughter was incredible and thankfully not unduly impacted by it...but absolutely the stuff of nightmares. It’s the fact that I actually opened the door!!?! 😱
It starts in such a stark way. I can feel the fear and the fight. The lioness was definitely there in both you and Fizz. It is replaced with such a warm feeling of being wrapped in a cocoon. Something you needed. You make me realise how strong you are. You also make me realise what a difference loving family and friends make and how important eating meals together can be xxxxx
❤️❤️❤️ I think we all hold an inner strength that we don’t know we have...until it’s needed. And yes, it was a beautiful reminder the following evening of all that is good in humanity 💕

Thank you Lacey - and yes Amrutha really is a special place!! Whereabouts in the world are you? x
I am across the Atlantic in Texas - Dallas/Ft. Worth …. Wishing I was in Europe 😉
I visited Dallas so briefly about 25 years ago, I didn't really get to see much unfortunately but I have such an image in my mind from the TV!!! x

Beautifully written ❤️ And I am definitely plan to visit that cafe next time I'm in London, love their philosophy 😊
Oh it’s just gorgeous. Highly recommended 🥰🥰
I remember this so well. Such a scary thing to happen but such a lovely positive aftermath ❤️ xx
