I could comment on every paragraph Em but there’s not enough space or time. I identify with so much you have written. Your style so simple and engaging. The description of the church scene so vivid and captures accurately how in the depth of grief we can instead be overwhelmed with laughter and humour. I think it speaks of not only your beloved fathers character but I suspect also your brother’s , ever present . The description of the quilt is a joy to read and the Tapestry of our lives is a favourite metaphor/ analogy I love and use. It’s no coincidence Carole Kings song of same name is a much loved piece of music. Beautiful writing of yours that I’m growing accustomed to It’s very comforting reading
